Basic Types of Insulin Syringes
1. Traditional Insulin Syringes
The syringe and needle are either integrated or separate. Insulin needs to be manually drawn into the syringe. Suitable for patients with limited financial resources or those accustomed to traditional methods.
Advantages: Low cost, flexible dose adjustment; Disadvantages: More steps involved in operation, inconvenient to carry, and prone to contamination with repeated use.
2. Insulin Pen Needles
Requires use with an insulin pen. The needle is detachable and replaceable, and the dose is adjusted via the scale on the pen body.
Advantages: Simple operation, accurate dosage, and highly portable; Disadvantages: Requires a specific insulin pen, and the needle needs to be replaced regularly.
3. Insulin Pump Infusion Sets
Connected to an insulin pump via a soft tube. The needle is implanted subcutaneously for extended periods, and the infusion site is changed regularly.
Advantages: Mimics physiological insulin secretion, reducing the need for multiple injections; Disadvantages: High cost, requires professional training for operation.
